Mr. Gorman has extensive legal experience in both Florida and Illinois, handling many complex criminal and civil cases. Mr. Gorman received his Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University and his Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Gorman worked as a Prosecutor in Will County, Illinois and focused on DUI’s, traffic crimes, Misdemeanors and ordinance violations. Mr. Gorman also worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the Will County Public Defender’s Office during law school, representing clients in all aspects of Misdemeanor crimes.
Most recently, he served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit in Collier County. There he represented the citizens of the State of Florida and successfully prosecuted thousands of criminal cases with a heavy emphasis on DUI. As a Felony Prosecutor Mr. Gorman also tried serious cases such as Homicide, Drug Trafficking, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Felony Battery, Burglary, and many others. Mr. Gorman also served as a Juvenile Prosecutor which has qualified him to be uniquely familiar with all aspects of the Juvenile Justice System.
During his years as prosecutor, Mr. Gorman conducted training presentations for Law Enforcement Agencies throughout Collier County. He has trained Law Enforcement on a number of topics including DUI, DUI Crashes, Juvenile Law, Drug Possession, Misdemeanor and Traffic related crimes.
Mr. Gorman has extensive knowledge of Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” Law and has argued it in several cases. He attended seminars on the topic and has taught other Prosecutors on the intricacies of the law.
In addition to working in criminal law Mr. Gorman has represented clients in various civil litigation matters. He has worked with a large Washington D.C based firm in Miami that specialized in Corporate Litigation. Mr. Gorman has worked at Will County Legal Assistance in Illinois where he focused on helping clients with Family Law, Elder Law, and Landlord Tenant issues. Mr. Gorman also worked as an associate for one of the largest law firms in Will County, Illinois. While there in addition to acting as a prosecutor for several Municipalities. Mr. Gorman represented clients in a number of Civil Litigation matters including Landlord Tenant Issues, Collections, Personal Injury, Wrongful Death and Toxic Tort.
There is absolutely no substitute for trial experience. Mr. Gorman brings that experience in his dedicated representation of clients in both Personal Injury and Criminal matters.
